THE CHALLENGE... THE SOLUTION...

The numbers don't lie—1 in 3 American adults has prediabetes, but only 10 percent of them know they have it. Diabetes is the fourth leading disease killer in the U.S. claiming more than 150,000 lives each year and is the leading cause of kidney failure, lower-limb amputations, and adult-onset blindness.

Sadly, Diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate, and it is estimated that over half a million more Americans will be diagnosed with diabetes this year. The good news is that this doesn't have to happen to you.

The keys to meeting this challenge are: Education, Prevention, and Early Detection. It starts by taking charge of your health by making smart lifestyle and nutrition choices, seeing your doctor regularly for checkups and health screenings, and monitoring your body for any changes that should be brought to the attention of medical professionals.

The National Diabetes Fund encourages you to protect yourself and the ones you love through education, prevention, and by recognizing the warning signs and symptoms.
